“Make the pledge to raise funds, and step outside your comfort zone and try something new,” the Windsor Cancer Foundation said in a media release. “By showing the bravery inside of you — Your Brave — you are stepping up and showing support for the one in eight in our community who will hear the words ‘you have cancer.’ Our loved ones are bravely facing cancer. Are you ready to Show Us Your Brave?”

Organizers held a launch party for the event on April 17 at the CIBC building in downtown Windsor, where fundraisers will take the leap at the peak of the campaign.
The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation said Show Us Your Brave will support cancer patients in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia-Lambton.
The foundation is the official fundraising arm of the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre. It raises money to buy equipment and deliver patient amenities. It also supports the development of initiatives such as the Patient Assistance Fund and the Seeds4Hope program, which supports local cancer research. The foundation said it has raised more than $30 million in total.
The high point of the new campaign will happen June 22, which organizers are calling “Brave Day.” The foundation said about 90 fundraisers will have the chance to rappel 170 feet down the side of the CIBC building at 100 Ouellette Ave.
