City and Colour added to Lightfoot show, Ringo headed to Niagara Falls

City and Colour is among the latest performers announced for next month’s Celebrating Gordon Lightfoot concert at Massey Hall.

Also added to the May 23 tribute night are Murray McLauchlan, Serena Ryder, Kathleen Edwards, Julian Taylor, and Tom Wilson.

The musicians join previously announced performers — house bands Blue Rodeo and The Gordon Lightfoot Band, Allison Russell, Aysanabee, Burton Cummings, Caroline Wiles and Bob Doidge, Meredith Moon, Sylvia Tyson, The Good Brothers, Tom Cochrane, and William Prince.

Lightfoot, who died last May at age 84, played Massey Hall more than 170 times, a record for an artist in the hall’s 130-year history.

Proceeds from Celebrating Gordon Lightfoot, as requested by the Gordon Lightfoot Estate, will support Massey Hall, a charitable not-for-profit.

In other concert news:

— Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band have added a Sept. 22 date at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ont., where they previously launched tours in 2010 and 2012.

Joining the Beatles drummer will be Steve Lukather (Toto), Edgar Winter, Colin Hay (Men At Work), Warren Ham, Hamish Stuart (Average White Band) and Gregg Bissonette.

Starr will release his 5th EP, Crooked Boy, as a special limited edition marble vinyl on Record Store Day on Saturday (April 20).
