Windsor police lay drug and fraud charges

Windsor police recovered a 12-guage shotgun stock, ammunition, cocaine and counterfeit U.S. currency during a search of a Windsor home.

Officers with the drugs and guns enforcement unit also arrested a 35-year-old man Thursday at the suspect’s home in the 2100 block of Church Street.

A total of 21.4 grams of cocaine and $300 in counterfeit cash was seized along with the gun and ammunition.

The suspect has been charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of counterfeit money and failure to comply with a release order.

Windsor police also arrested and charged a 39-year-old man in connection to a bank fraud investigation.

The suspect is alleged to have entered a financial institution in the 3200 block of Dougall Avenue on Tuesday and presented a fraudulent bank draft, valued at more than $100,000, in an attempt to purchase a gold bar.

The employee was suspicious of the bank draft and asked the suspect to return the next day to complete the transaction.

The employee was able to confirm the bank draft was fraudulent after contacting the bank named on the draft. Police were notified.

When the suspect returned Wednesday, he was arrested.

The man has been charged with uttering a forged document, fraud over $5,000 and possession of fraudulent identification.
